Laura, our MD, Roxane, our Operations Director and Megan, our Head of Brand, headed down first thing for the morning breakfast, where Laura was amongst the speakers. She spoke about her experience with Help To Grow, in a questions and answer session, and how it led her to continue more learning in the form of a Master’s with the University of Exeter. The breakfast allowed us to catch up and connect with a room bursting with people, ahead of the main event!
Madi and Cherie, our Marketing Assistant and Payroll Technician, were managing the stand at the Business Show itself, alongside our work experience students, Holly and Aiden, and were later joined by the others after the breakfast had concluded.
It was a day full of fantastic conversations with amazing businesses across a range of sectors, making connections and gaining great insight into what each business can offer, as well as just having a lovely catch up with many familiar faces. Laura was also invited to talk on air, with BBC Radio Cornwall and Rewind Radio, as well as answering a few of Joe’s burning questions in a Bull and Wolf video of the day!
Not only was the day hugely valuable for Whyfield, but it was an brilliant opportunity for our work experience students to come along for the day.
Here’s what they had to say:
Holly said: “This was my first business fair, and it was so fun! Every business felt so supportive, and I loved hearing how people got to where they are, and I now have a clearer idea of what I want to do next.”
Aiden said: “Very educational and enjoyable! I especially liked meeting other businesses, and everyone was so welcoming. The free merch (especially the pickle and positive potato from our stand) was great! I loved helping with the Jellybean game on our stand, too! Would happily do similar things in the future!”
We loved chatting to everyone, stand-holders and visitors alike, and our ‘guess how many jellybeans are in the jar’ game was a great success – it definitely got a tad competitive! We also loved the reaction to our ‘emotional support pickles’ and ‘positive potatoes’, an added personal touch from Whyfield that certainly put lots of smiles on faces!
