The Chancellor has announced new funding for businesses in retail, hospitality and leisure sectors during the third UK lockdown. With the latest lockdown now underway in the UK, these new grants are aimed at keeping businesses afloat until Spring.
The Treasury has said grants are worth up to the amount of £9,000 per property. Outside of these sectors, a further £594m will be made available to affected firms.
The overall package of measures is to be worth £4.6bn. Mr Sunak has said:
“This will help businesses to get through the months ahead – and crucially it will help sustain jobs, so workers can be ready to return when they are able to reopen.”
With the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme now running until 30 April 2021, many jobs will be saved throughout the latest UK lockdown. The Government are paying 80% of wages up to a maximum of £2,500 a month, with the option for employers to top up the last 20%.

If you’ve already worked out how much you can claim, you can claim for wages online through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.
